to go along with my last entry

So I got the ENSIGN the other day and on the cover is a "single" girl. and on the bottom right hand corner of course the heading is about "singles." so I took it to work today and I read the "cover story" and it was/is EXACTLY HOW I FEEL AS A SINGLE PERSON IN UTAH!!! read the ENSIGN and you'll know what I'm talking about. especially how I've been feeling for the past couple of yrs. and just how frustrating it's been, but a nice reminder that I need to focus on becoming a better individual and working on my strengths/weaknesses a better friend, and not so much "obsessing" on why I haven't gotten married yet.

Amy, I know how you feel about being single, especially in Utah or in our culture. I'm going to be 32 in a few months and can't help but think, "When will it be my turn?" and "How many weddings of other people do I have to attend before I can attend my own?" I have struggled with attending family events and hearing sometimes hurtful comments — no matter if they meant it or not. Cherilyn and I have often joked that we should write a book called “How to survive a family event when you’re single!” But I’ve learned that I have to let people’s rude comments just roll off me and not to be offended. It's very frustrating, discouraging and hard to watch other people’s lives move forward (ie., get married, have kids, etc.). But I know that God has a plan for each one of us; and those plans are not cookie cutter plans, meaning they are not the same for each person. I know we are all different and our life plans are unique and tailored to meet the needs of each one of us. Trust in God, trust that He knows and loves you, and trust that He has a plan for you. In the meantime, find joy and meaning in the journey. And know that you are not alone. Many people feel like you do, but know that you are loved.
